Originally from Romania, Ondina is both an artist and engineer. Her work lies at the intersection of art and technology, between imaginary and possible. Ondina worked at the MIT Media Lab as a Research Software Engineer, where she focused on data visualizations and telling stories using data. Prior to joining MIT, Ondina was as an Associate Director in Data Visualization at Merck, where she received the Merck Global Health Fellowship 2021 to develop a patient registry for the Rare Diseases of South Africa NGO. Ondina graduated from the NYU ITP with a Master in Human Computer Interaction. Her project "Fibonacci Galaxy" was invited to participate at the World Science Festival 2016 in New York City. She holds a BE and ME in Industrial Design from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca Romania. As a graduate student at NYU ITP, Ondina was awarded the May and Samuel Rudin scholarship and the NYU Provost Global Research Fellowship to do research at the Tel Aviv University in Computational Design and Neuroscience in the summer of 2016. Ondina is a 2018 recipient of the Front-End Google Developer Challenge scholarship. She speaks fluent English, Romanian, and German.
